ASIAN PAINTS - COLOUR NEXT 2020
Post Office Studios yet again partnered up with Asian Paints to conceptualize and produce five animated films for their campaign ‘Colour Next 2020’
Every year, Asian Paints brings together the best of design and research principles to curate trends of the year, that reflect the aesthetic of that time. These trends are later translated into home decor themes for the upcoming year. The four diverse trends this year are Sonic, Potent, Blend and Mystique, in addition to Asian Paints’ Colour of the Year for 2020, Curiosity.
We analyzed the studies conducted by the brand to arrive at each theme that could justify the design trends. The process involved frequent moodboarding and discussions with the research and design teams. Once the themes were finalized, the next step was the creation of these films that could elevate the concepts visually and bring life to it.
We have always believed in the power of creative collaboration. Keeping this in mind, we connected with over 100 artists across the world, specializing in sectors such as 3D and 2D motion design, music composition and animation, to create this film series. The idea was to use different mediums and creative styles to represent each colour theme.
The final production team comprised 22 artists from the UK, Spain, USA, Sweden and India.
A HOME NEW WORLD
This film delves into the Work From Home culture, catalysed by the pandemic. Home is now an entire ecosystem wherein worlds that were otherwise separate, now collide. The film thus, is about our changing, adaptive, versatile spaces at home, with a variety of environments existing in the same room. The furniture provides modular functionality that helps the room shape according to the need of the hour.

Habitat is about the restoration and healing of nature and the world as a whole. It focuses on objects made using biodegradable and eco friendly materials placed in a natural environment, which come together to reveal sustainable and eco friendly decor.

FELICITY
Felicity is about authenticity, the experience of well crafted and timeless items which hold real value and are made to last. Objects that are used in our daily lives, a part of our routine and lifestyle. Our film focuses on such articles in a living room which are timeless in their design and unparalleled in functionality, revealing them gradually.

COTY
Cherish is about our reaction to the world around us; in the face of uncertainty due to the pandemic, our natural response is to treasure & appreciate all the things that we have in our life. The idea behind this film was thus to showcase abstract and natural elements in the world around us that are fresh, soothing and humble in nature, such as wood and leaves, with the colour palette being strongly relied upon to visually showcase the same.

Z-FUTURES
Z Futures is inspired by the self-assured, liberal and fluid attitude of Gen Z - a youthful spirit of adventure mixed with the calm of domestic cosy. Getting things done is their thing. Fixing than waiting for things to be fixed is how they vibe. The film thus showcases this generation in a way that doesn’t shy away from reality. We didn’t want a voice over to be the driving force of the film; we wanted the visuals to speak for themselves. To speak for a generation that doesn’t tag themselves of being rebels. But the ones that stand for honesty, justice and equality.
